PURWOKERTO - The Banyumas City Police (Polresta) have named a village head (kades) in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, as a suspect in a case of alleged abuse of a woman.

The Head of the Banyumas Police, Kombes Petrus P. Silalahi, said the suspect with the initials TP (44), Head of Kedungmalang Village, Sumbang District, was suspected of abusing the victim with the initials MA (23), a resident of Purwokerto South District.

The incident occurred in front of the Abu Al Qhoir Mosque, Grendeng Village, North Purwokerto District, Saturday (3/1), around 23.00 WIB.

"Based on the results of the investigation, the suspect TP committed persecution to the victim in front of the Abu Al Qhoir Mosque, Grendeng Village, North Purwokerto," he said.

The incident began when the suspect was with three witnesses at the location and saw the victim passing by. The suspect, who is known to have a special relationship with the victim, then approached and called the victim because he was jealous.

The suspect then hit the victim from behind using his bare hands until he hit the back of the helmet worn by the victim so that the victim fell.

After the victim took off his helmet, two witnesses with initials AM and IR helped the victim stand up, but the suspect hit the victim several times again until he hit the forehead.

When the victim tried to leave the location, the suspect pushed the victim again until he fell.

As a result of the incident, the victim was injured and reported the incident to the Banyumas Police.

In the investigation of the case, the police secured evidence in the form of a visa, helmet, clothes worn by the victim during the incident, one piece of hoodie, and photos showing the victim's injuries.

"For his actions, TP was charged with Article 466 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of two years and six months in prison," said the Police Chief.

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa believes that Indonesia's economic prospects remain strong after S&P Global Ratings again maintained Indonesia's credit rating (sovereign credit rating) at the investment grade level.

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen and expand cooperation in the transportation sector. The collaboration between the two countries will cover various fields, ranging from aviation, maritime, railways, to human resource development (HRD).

The commitment was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi when receiving the Minister of Transport and Logistics of Saudi Arabia Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, on Monday, July 13.

Dudy said cooperation in the transportation sector between the Indonesian Government and the Government of Saudi Arabia has been established for a long time.

As is known, the case of mass rape that befell a 15-year-old girl in Sampang, Madura, East Java, has become a public concern. The victim is known to have been raped alternately by 27 people over a period of four months.

The family only reported the case on June 29, 2026 because the victim suffered severe trauma. The Sampang Police Investigation Team has arrested 13 of the 27 perpetrators of the rape. The remaining 14 are still being hunted by the Police.

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung targets the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B route Velodrome-Manggarai to start operating in August 2026. Pramono also wants the new LRT Jakarta line to be inaugurated directly by President Prabowo Subianto.

Pramono assessed that the Jakarta LRT line from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai, which is 12.2 kilometers long with 11 stations, will be a major change for the Jakarta transportation system, especially to connect the northern area with the city center, which has been plagued by traffic jams.

"Why are we proposing to be inaugurated by the President? Because this will be a milestone or, what is it, a legacy that will change the face of Jakarta. Because so far the north to the center often faces handicaps, extraordinary congestion," he said.

Pramono said the provincial government had also decided to extend the LRT line from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas along about 2 kilometers. According to him, the project does not require land acquisition so that the construction process can be carried out immediately.

"I have decided to immediately build it up to Dukuh Atas, about 2 kilometers more," he said.

He explained that the construction of the Jakarta LRT to Manggarai cost an estimated Rp11.5 trillion. Meanwhile, the extension to Dukuh Atas is estimated to require funds of around Rp2.1 trillion.

"And I have also asked Mrs. Assistant Finance for the construction from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas to be completed in 2028 with a budget of Rp. 2.1 trillion, and it has been budgeted in the current budget of approximately Rp. 611 billion," said Pramono.

In its report, S&P assessed that Indonesia's rating was supported by the prospect of continued strong economic growth, prudent macroeconomic policies, and relatively low government debt and net foreign debt levels compared to countries with similar ratings.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the decision reflected the international community's confidence in the direction of economic policies implemented by the government.

"The affirmation of the rating by S&P at the BBB level with a stable outlook is an acknowledgment of the consistency and credibility of the Government's economic policies," he said in a statement, Tuesday, July 14.

JAKARTA - Entering the new school year 2026-2027, the Indonesian Teachers' Union Federation (FSGI) released worrying data regarding the portrait of the education world in the country. JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) officially issued Circular Letter (SE) Number 18 of 2026 concerning Restrictions on the Use of Gawai in Educational Units which will be implemented in the 2026/2027 academic year. This policy is aimed at building a healthy, safe, and responsible digital culture among learners without eliminating the benefits of technology in the learning process.

Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that restrictions on the use of gadgets do not mean that the government prohibits students from using digital devices. According to him, the use of gadgets is still allowed as long as it supports learning activities and is done wisely.

"The restrictions are not prohibitions, but how they use digital technology, especially gadgets, wisely, wisely, and for educational purposes," said Abdul Mu'ti, Monday, July 13.

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Pediatric Doctors Association (IDAI) officially submitted an Amicus Curiae Opinion regarding criminal case number 295/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Pgp on behalf of the defendant dr. JAKARTA - The pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Raya Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, was damaged after being hit by a crane-carrying truck on Tuesday, July 14, at around 00.30 WIB.

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the non-active Regent of Sukoharjo Etik Suryani imitated her husband, Wardoyo Wijaya, when practicing extortion.

Wardoyo Wijaya is known to have served as the Regent of Sukoharjo for the 2010-2015 and 2016-2021 periods. Meanwhile, Etik, his wife, served as regent for the 2021-2025 period and was re-elected for the 2025-2030 period.

The collection was said to have been carried out by Richard Tri Handoko as the Head of the BPKAD of the Sukoharjo Regency Government.

"ETS asks RCH as the Head of the Sukoharjo Regency BPKAD to collect 40 percent of the incentives received by a number of employees at the BPKAD," said Asep.

In carrying out the collection order, Asep said, Etik gave a code in the form of 'additional collection wages kae ono, tho' or in Indonesian it means 'there is additional collection wages'.

Then there is also an order, 'kowe mrene kan ora mbayar' which means, 'you are here not paying'.

Then, there is also an order, 'padakno karo bapak' or which means 'equal to the father'. Asep said this sentence has the meaning of the amount of money deposited adjusted to the previous regent's deposit.

"Where the previous regent also ordered the BPKAD ranks at that time with the order, 'wis dilantik ojo mendeleng wae' or it means, 'it has been inaugurated, don't just stand there'. The point is that the employees at the BPKAD give a deposit to the regent at that time," he said.

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Philanthropy Association (PFI) expressed full support for the proposal of the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN MUI) regarding the reform of religious fiscal policy. PFI encourages the government to set zakat as a direct tax reduction (tax credit), not just a tax deduction as is currently the case.

This strategic step is considered capable of strengthening the national Islamic philanthropy ecosystem. It is believed that greater fiscal incentives for taxpayers will increase compliance, increase the collection of religious social funds, and encourage more organized distribution of zakat.

In order to uphold the principle of justice, PFI also proposes that this tax credit policy be applied inclusively to other mandatory religious donations in Indonesia.

Difference between Tax Deduction vs Tax Credit Zakat

Currently, tax regulations in Indonesia only position zakat paid through official institutions as a reduction of taxable income. This rule refers to the Income Tax Law Article 9 paragraph (1) letter g jo PMK 114 of 2025.

This tax deduction scheme is considered less optimal in attracting taxpayers to channel their zakat through formal channels. Instead, the proposed tax credit scheme from DSN-MUI will make the amount of zakat paid directly deduct the tax bill owed 1-on-1. Shifting the Informal Zakat Culture to Official Institutions

JAKARTA - Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi revealed that so far the Palace has not received a proposal for the new name of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) from Attorney General ST Burhanuddin. In fact, the position is vacant after Febrie Adriansyah resigned.

Prasetyo explained that the mechanism for the definitive appointment of Jampidsus was the authority of President Prabowo Subianto through a presidential decree (Keppres). However, the presidential decree can only be issued after the president receives a formal proposal from the attorney general.

The difficulty increased when he had to perform songs from the legendary band from Yogyakarta, Sheila On 7. Ari admitted that he had trouble catching up with the original vocalist's vocal range because of the demands of the scene in the film.

"It should be five songs, but I was asked to record the full song songs of Sheila On 7 where the tone didn't reach me, but I was asked to record. That's hard enough. It's really hard," said Ari honestly.

Fortunately, the production team provided a very mature preparation time through an intensive workshop for two months. Ari was not just released to face the microphone in the recording studio.

KUPANG - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police are continuing to investigate the alleged case of intimidation against doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni or doctor Icha. Until now, the Joint Investigation team has examined 32 witnesses to uncover the alleged intimidation reported by the victim's family.

Director of Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Sigit Haryono, said that dozens of witnesses came from the North Central Timor (TTU) Regency General Hospital (RSUD), Leona Kefamenanu Hospital, and Icha's family doctor.

This case relates to a report of alleged intimidation involving three members of the TTU Regency DPRD, namely TL from the Golkar Party, NT from the PKB, and VK from the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), as well as a veterinarian with the initials MMS who is the wife of NT. The incident was reported to have occurred at the Leona Kefamenanu Hospital emergency installation (IGD) on July 13, 2026.

"The steps we have taken are to take statements from several people who know about the threat. Starting from witnesses at the TTU Hospital, Leona Kefamenanu Hospital and Icha's family doctor," said Sigit when confirmed, Monday, July 13.

JAKARTA - The Japanese government has begun discussing legal protection against the unauthorized use of celebrity voices and appearances. The move comes after more than 43,000 images and videos allegedly using the identities of public figures were created with artificial intelligence.

Kyodo News in its report, quoted on Monday, July 13, said that the Japanese Ministry of Justice submitted an initial draft to an expert panel on Monday. The proposal includes protecting the voice of public figures through the "right not to be used arbitrarily".

The panel also recommended that the right to publicity be expanded to include voice. The right to publicity is the right of a person to control the use of the commercial value of his or her name, face, appearance, or identity.

Japan currently has no law that specifically protects a person from the use of his voice without permission. The court has also never set a clear limit to determine the violation in such cases.

The guidelines drafted to clarify the sound protection are expected to be approved without objection. The discussion is aimed at curbing the spread of fake videos created with AI.

The Japan Publicity Rights Protection Organization stated that more than 43,000 images and videos allegedly used the appearance or voice of celebrities and Japanese voice actors without consent.

JAKARTA - The European Union on Monday announced that European donors had provided about 1 billion US dollars to help with early recovery efforts in war-torn Gaza Strip, Palestine.

The Judicial Council further said that the seized gold had been handed over to the Central Bank of Iraq as part of efforts to complete the investigation into the Al Jumaili case.
